Iranian actress Hasti Mohammayi named Best Actress at the Aswan International Women Film Festival in Egypt

According to Cinemacinema, Hasti Mohammayi won the Best Actress Award at the 9th edition of the Aswan International Women Film Festival in Egypt for her performance in the feature film Connection, directed by Negar Azarbayjani and produced by Negar Eskandarfar.

The Aswan International Women Film Festival, which began on May 1, 2025, featured around 60 films from more than 30 countries. This edition concluded with a competition program that included 10 feature films and 20 short films.

Connection is the first cinematic production of the Dubai-based filmmaking institute KARNAMEH, written by Hasti Mohammayi and Payam Karami, and filmed in Sharjah in the fall of 2024.

This work marks the third feature film by Negar Azarbayjani and was made outside Iran with the participation of both Iranian and Emirati cast and crew.

Synopsis:
Salma, on a journey to give birth to her child, becomes entangled between love and the interference of the men in her life. One love provides her with safety and peace, yet at the same time limits her freedom. When she overcomes her inner fears, she discovers the joy hidden within independence and surrenders herself to the flow of a self-reliant life.
