The 2024 line-up was curated by\u00a0<em>Screen International<\/em>\u00a0executive editor, reviews and new talent Fionnuala Halligan, and Middle East correspondent Mona Sheded.<\/p>\n<p>Previous alumni include Adam Bessa, who shared the 2022 Cannes Un Certain Regard best performance award for his turn in Lotfy Nathan\u2019s\u00a0<em>Harka<\/em>; Lebanon director Mounia Akl; Nisrin Erradi, who starred in 2022 Venice Critics\u2019 Week closer\u00a0<em>Queens<\/em>;\u00a0<em>The Swimmers<\/em>\u00a0actor Ahmed Malek; Tara Abboud, star of Venice 2021 premiere\u00a0<em>Amira<\/em>; filmmaker Sameh Alaa, who was selected for the Cannes Cannes Cinefondation residence in 2021; and\u00a0<em>Souad<\/em>\u00a0actor Bassant Ahmed.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth edition of Red Sea film festival opens with the world premiere of\u00a0<em>The Tale Of Daye\u2019s Fa<\/em>mily, an Egypt-Saudi co-production and will close with Michael Gracey\u2019s\u00a0<em>Better Man<\/em>, the biopic of British pop singer Robbie Williams which world premiered at Telluride.<\/p>\n<p>The awards night gala screening is Johnny Depp\u2019s Red Sea Film Fund-backed\u00a0<em>Modi:<\/em>\u00a0<em>Three Days On The Wing Of Madness,<\/em>\u00a0which debuted earlier this year at San Sebastian.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the second time, the initiative has been held in conjunction with Red Sea and Film AlUla, which is hosting a photoshoot for the five selected talents, including at the first UNESCO world heritage site in Saudi Arabia, the Hegra Archaealogical Site (Al Hjr).
